Michael K. Tomenga
Michael K. Tomenga, who is resident in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, concentrates in the areas of Customs law, international trade and export regulation.
Mr. Tomenga is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Lawrence University (1975) and received his law degree from Catholic University of America in 1978. From 1978 through 1984, Mr. Tomenga was an attorney in Customs Headquarters' Office of Regulations and Rulings (ORR). He has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1984.
Mr. Tomenga counsels and represents clients on the broad range of laws administered by the United States Customs Service and the Office of the United States Trade Representative, as well as export controls administered by the United States Commerce Department and the State Department. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, and is a member of the bar of several courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Court of International Trade. He is a member of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Tomenga is co-author of U.S. Import Classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and has lectured on various Customs law topics for the American Association of Exporters and Importers.
Mr. Tomenga served as the Treasurer and Vice President of Customs Lawyers' Association.
