Neville, Peterson LLP is a law firm concentrating in international and domestic trade regulation matters. For more than 20 years, the firm has provided legal counsel and representation to foreign and domestic corporations and industries, governments, Customhouse brokers, freight forwarders, carriers and individuals in the areas of international trade, Customs law, export controls, intellectual property, antitrust, shipping, product safety, and related Federal regulatory disciplines.

Administrative Practice: We represent clients before a wide array of Federal government agencies, including but not limited to:

- The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC);
- The Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Litigation: Neville Peterson LLP is a national leader in Customs and international trade litigation. The firm’s attorneys practice extensively before the the United States Court of International Trade and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as in other Federal and State courts. Over the past two decades, the firm has been in the forefront of some of the most challenging and innovative litigation in the field, winning hundreds of cases.
The firm also works with attorneys in foreign jurisdictions to assist clients in Customs and trade litigation abroad, and in assisting clients in implementing global Customs and trade policies.
International Organizations. Recognizing the increasing importance of international bodies in regulating international trade, Neville Peterson attorneys assist clients in matters arising before the World Customs Organization in Brussels, the World Trade Organization in Geneva, and various international standards-setting bodies.The firm’s attorneys have also served on numerous NAFTA Binational Dispute Resolution Panels.
Intellectual Property. The firm’s practice includes a wide range of intellectual property matters arising in the international trade arena. Neville Peterson assists clients in proceedings before the United States International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act, and in related litigation before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition, the firm assists trademark and copyright holders in recording their intellectual property with United States Customs and Border Protection for import protection. We also represent companies in matters relating to the detention and seizure of goods for intellectual property rights violations, including anti-counterfeiting proceedings under Section 526 of the Tariff Act, and in the regulation of gray market goods.
Tariff-Advantaged Facilities Neville Peterson provides representation and counseling to clients seeking to establish or operate tariff-advantaged facilities, including United States Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), Customs Bonded Warehouses, Container Freight Stations and similar installations.
Audit Planning and Defense. As Customs authorities have increasingly shifted to a post-entry audit model for enforcing the laws and regulations governing international trade, our firm has assisted importers in preparing for and conducted Customs audits, and in contention management for any disputes resulting from such audits. These have included focused assessment (FA) audits, single-issue audits, enforcement audits, and audits of FTZ and bonded warehouses. The firm has also assisted clients in devising internal audit plans and in performing self-assessments.
Cargo Security: With governments and companies placing growing emphasis on securing the supply chain against tampering, cargo security programs have taken on tremendous importance. Our firm has been active in assisting clients in participating in the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and the European Union’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Initiative. We also assist firms in planning for and implementing their participation in CBP’s Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) Program.
Scholarship and Public Service. With leadership comes responsibility, and Neville Peterson’s attorneys have always sought to contribute to the advancement of scholarship in the Customs and international trade field. The firm edits the multivolume Oceana Press treatise, Customs Law and Administration, and its partners have authored or co-authored books and articles dealing with a wide range of Customs and trade law subjects. These books and articles have been published in the United States and abroad.
In addition, the firm’s attorneys have taught international trade and business subjects in a variety of United States colleges and universities, and in seminars worldwide. Neville Peterson attorneys are always available to speak to interested groups and organizations.
Firm attorneys have also consistently offered their services pro bono, for instance in representing workers separated from employment in seeking certification to receive Trade Adjustment Assistance, and in other worthy ventures.

Our Offices.
